For the inevitable next few weeks in lockdown I have set myself a task! My aim is to get on board as many reciprocal arrangements with other Northwest based clubs as I can. So when the restrictions are lifted and you can all play golf again, you will hopefully have the added option of going to other courses for a game, free of charge, as part of your Woolton membership. All clubs are in the same boat at the moment and, as I see it, there's never been a better time to approach other clubs to get an arrangement in place, even if it's only temporary for the next 12 months, it still adds some extra courses to enjoy this year. I will let you know how I'm getting on via my newsletters. Don't expect the Birkdales and Hillsides to be getting involved but there's plenty of smaller clubs with nice courses similar to ours and they are the courses I will look for. Any recommendations please do let me know, there'll be courses I haven't played that some of you have, so if you think others would enjoy them too, contact me and let me know. I'll do my best.

VALUE IS NOT ALWAYS AS IT SEEMS!

Whilst lockdown continues the online retailers have continued to trade and there appears to be some bargains around in the hardware market!! or is there? Golf clubs only ever have value to you personally if you can use them. It may be sold as the best driver on the planet, but if you can't use it because it doesn't suit you, you're throwing money away! Even if it's half price, you're still throwing money away!! Just half as much!

A Pro on the Foremost group relayed a story a member had told him who was ready to buy a set of irons from a well known online retailer and emailed the retailer to ask about the custom fitting. The customer was, unbelievably, offered a telephone custom fitting! Yes custom fitting via a telephone call! It's the most ridiculous and greedy attempt to close a sale I've ever heard. It is impossible to custom fit successfully without hitting a golf ball! It's absolutely criminal in fact! This is where the online retailers fall down in today's market. Clubs aren't cheap these days so the service you receive in making sure you are buying the correct clubs to suit your game is of absolute paramount importance!
